Ms Mariya Gabriel is the Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, with a rich and wide portfolio and responsibilities, among others, ensuring full implementation of the New European Agenda for Culture, promoting creative industries and promoting the Creative Europe Programme as well as strengthening international cooperation in education, research, innovation and culture, including the Western Balkans.
She is the First Vice-President of the European People’s Party. Ahead of her current role she was the Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society, a Member of the European Parliament, Vice-President of the EPP Group in the European Parliament, as well as Vice-President of EPP Women.<
